China opposed the US-backed International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) resolution against Iran.

China has warned that political confrontation and pressure will further escalate tensions, with Beijing urging a return to negotiations to resolve the issue.

Li Song, China’s Permanent Representative to the International Atomic Energy Agency, says that political confrontation in the Board of Governors cannot solve the Iranian nuclear issue, while forcefully passing resolutions will further increase tensions in the region and sending the matter to the United Nations Security Council will not solve the problem.

He has emphasized that the solution to the Iranian nuclear issue should be found through negotiations.

Lee Song pointed out that the memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran in June was an important result of mediation efforts, now that the door to negotiations has opened, it should not be closed, as long as there is hope for peace, it should not be abandoned.

He says that the United States and Israel carried out two military attacks on Iran’s peaceful nuclear facilities under the supervision of the IAEA, which is the main reason for the obstruction of the normal return of cooperation between Iran and the IAEA.

The Chinese representative has said that China will continue its efforts for a political solution to the Iranian nuclear issue and will play its role in promoting peace and stability in the Middle East.

It should be noted that the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency has passed a resolution under which Iran will be reported to the United Nations Security Council for violating its obligations regarding the non-proliferation of nuclear weapons.

This is the first time in two decades that the board has taken such a step against Iran.

According to Arab media, this move is a sign of a further increase in the ongoing diplomatic standoff between Iran and Western countries.
