US President Donald Trump rejected Saudi Crown Prince’s request for strikes against the Houthis.

According to the reports of the American website Axios, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman urged the US President to take action against Yemen’s Houthis during two separate telephone calls on Thursday, but Trump rejected this request.

Quoting two US officials, Axios said the Houthi group was advancing towards the Bab al-Mandab Strait.

US officials have said that Washington currently has no plans for direct military action against the Houthis.

A senior Trump administration official told Axios that the US is focused on protecting its core national security interests, including ensuring freedom of navigation in the Red Sea.

According to the US official, regional partners are being enabled to play a leadership role in addressing and solving regional security challenges.

The report said Washington would provide Saudi Arabia with intelligence information and data on targets.
