Meghna Gulzar, daughter of renowned Indian poet, lyricist, writer and director Gulzar, revealed that her father used to ask an actress to wash her face on his sets if he saw her wearing too much make-up.

Meghna Gulzar revealed this at an event organized for her upcoming film Daira, which was also attended by Kareena Kapoor and Prithviraj Sukumaran.

Participating in the event, Gulzar Sahib said that how he used to encourage the actors on his sets, he used to keep coffees in his pocket. I used to offer you toffee if you gave me a good shot. My technicians also got coffees.

Prithviraj, who attended the event, jokingly asked Meghana to learn something from her father.

On this, 53-year-old Meghna said that even Sharmila Tagore would know that if an actress applied excessive make-up on the sets of Gulzar, he would send her back to reduce the make-up.

On this, 92-year-old Gulzar Sahib said that if someone used to put on too much make-up, the scene would have started from there that they should wash their hands and talk.

Meghna further said that he used to write a scene in which the actress was washing her face. Gulzar continued by saying that the actresses used to realize, then they used to ask me to give us 5 to 10 minutes to go and correct it.

As for Dairaa, directed by Meghna, it is an investigative crime thriller, which revolves around two police officers. One of which has Kareena Kapoor playing the role of DCP Ajuni Kohli, while Prithviraj Sukumaran will be seen in the role of DCP Raman Kumar.

The film will release in theaters on September 18, 2026.
