Netflix’s mobile game library has been in flux over the past year, and the departures don’t seem to be slowing down. We’ve received news that four mobile games are set to leave Netflix’s gaming roster by the end of September.
If you’ve been following our coverage, you’ll know that Netflix’s game removals aren’t a shock at this point. Now, as the tech giant continues to refine its gaming strategy, the total number of mobile titles available is shrinking a little more.
Departure notices are soon to be found on three of the traditional titles, as well as the very ambitious live-action game we’ve already covered. Here’s a summary of the departures planned for the end of this month, as well as a refresher on what each game is about:
- Shooting hoops – Departure on September 23
Developer: Frosty pop
Netflix official description: “Basketball with a dart gun? Sure, why not? Shoot the dart in the right direction to push the ball through the hoop. Nothing but the net.” - Reeling: Remastered – Departure on September 24th
Developer: Frosty pop
Netflix official description: “Same mission, new surprises: Sprint with jet belts, dodge missiles and more – all while guiding the ball into the hole. Can you beat gravity?”
- Ghost Detective – Departure on September 30th
Developer: Wooga (Playtika Studio)
Netflix official description: “You are a detective who was killed on the job. Now as a ghost, your mission is clear: find hidden objects and solve puzzles to catch your killer.” - Best guess live – Departure September 29/30
Developer: Apploff Entertainment and Ex Machina

Hosted alternately by Howie Mandel and Hunter March, the daily trivia show officially aired its final episode on August 28. The app will remain open until September 30 exclusively so users can claim their due payments, although the Netflix app itself refers to September 29 as the “last day to play” before it is removed entirely.
It is worth noting that Shooting hoops and Reeling: Remastered These are old streaming device titles. They were part of Netflix’s first wave of mobile games when it officially entered the gaming space in November 2021. Their departure marks the end of an era for some of the first casual gaming offerings on the platform. Ghost Detectivedeveloped by the hidden object experts at Wooga, is a much newer addition that only arrived in 2023.
As we mentioned before, Netflix’s gaming division has been going through a transition recently. While the company intends to continue investing in gaming, sources indicate that its efforts are shifting more toward big-screen cloud experiences, massive IP acquisitions, and games based on established Netflix IP (e.g. Too hot to handle and Strange things). For this reason, we have come to expect the mobile library to shrink as third-party licensing deals and pilot projects end, e.g Best guess live It’s coming to an end.
Previously, when we contacted Netflix’s PR team for comment on these types of departures, they told us: “Just as with series and movies, games will be removed from Netflix as licenses expire. Players will notice a ‘Leaving Soon’ badge and will be notified by the app itself well in advance of the removal.”
