If you missed its theatrical release earlier this spring or its initial streaming window, we have good news: Lornethe acclaimed documentary that explores the life and legacy Saturday Night Live Creator Lorne Michaels will officially come to Netflix US on October 5, 2026.
Released in theaters in April by Focus Features, the documentary is directed by Oscar-winner Morgan Neville, the acclaimed director behind Won’t you be my neighbor?, 20 feet from stardomand Piece by piece as well as some other titles you’ve watched on Netflix recently, including Saint of second chances and Collapse: 1975.
Instead of dry encyclopedic history SNL, Lorne It takes a lively and entertaining approach to revealing the elusive television giant. Since Michaels himself is difficult to pin down, Neville draws on a massive, star-studded roster of comedy legends and SNL Graduates to fill the gaps.
Throughout the film’s 101-minute running time, you’ll see interviews and appearances from the likes of Tina Fey, Maya Rudolph, Jimmy Fallon, Seth Meyers, Conan O’Brien, Semple Martin, Chris Rock, Colin Jost, Kristen Wiig, and even Michaels’ best friend, Paul Simon.

Why Lorne Coming to Netflix?

Lorne It will be in theaters on April 17, 2026, before the Peacock store opens on June 5. Now that its initial four-month exclusive run on Peacock has ended, the documentary is moving to Netflix October 5, 2026.
According to the deal structure, Lorne It will now stream on Netflix US for the next 10 months before eventually returning to Peacock for the final four months of the Pay-1 window.
