
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that all available means should be used to deliver the benefits of the fuel subsidy scheme to as many deserving citizens as possible, and timely information and guidance should be provided to the people for the success of the scheme.
In a briefing on the progress of the PM Special Relief Scheme presided over by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the meeting was told that more than 600,000 SMSs have been received since the start of the scheme in Islamabad region till this afternoon.
According to the briefing, 42 thousand 933 applicants have been successfully registered for the relief scheme out of the received SMS. Under the scheme, fuel subsidy will be provided to owners of motorcycles, rickshaws and vehicles up to 800 cc.
The Prime Minister directed to make the SMS required for subsidy relief registration free. The fuel subsidy scheme for the residents of Islamabad will be launched on the night of September 14 and 15.
According to the announcement, petrol relief will be available from the midnight of September 16 and 17 across the country, including Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.
The Prime Minister directed the administration including the Chief Commissioner and IG Islamabad to be present in the field to guide the public and said that all possible guidance should be provided to the public in registration and other necessary steps.
The Prime Minister also directed the mobilization of public representatives and volunteers across the country to guide the people and asked the volunteers to provide guidance to the people in completing the fuel subsidy scheme registration and other necessary steps.
