Houthi forces have claimed to have shot down a Saudi F-15 fighter jet in Yemen’s airspace.

According to foreign media reports, the spokesman of the Houthi army, Yahya Saree, has claimed that a Saudi F-15 fighter jet has been shot down near Jabal Hailan in the northeastern province of Marib in Yemen.

He has said that a locally developed surface-to-air missile shot down a Saudi fighter jet.

The spokesman of the Houthi army, giving more details, claimed that in view of this barbaric aggression against our country and people, the Yemeni armed forces shot down a Saudi F-15 fighter jet with the help and grace of Allah, when it was carrying out hostile operations in support of operations to increase its military presence in the airspace of Marib Governorate.

On the other hand, Yemen’s Houthi-dominated organization Ansar Allah has also claimed to have shot down the Saudi fighter jet.

Spokesman Ansarullah says that a Saudi F-15 fighter jet has been shot down in Yemen’s province of Marib. The Saudi F-15 was targeted by a locally made air-to-air missile.

According to media reports, air operations and cross-border attacks between the Yemeni Houthis and Saudi Arabia have intensified.

Saudi officials did not immediately confirm the claim, nor was there an immediate comment from the Saudi-led coalition.

It should be noted that yesterday the Saudi coalition said that the drone sent by the Yemeni Houthis was intercepted before it entered the restricted airspace around Mecca.

The spokesperson of the Saudi ally, Turki al-Maliki, said that this was the second attempt by the Houthis to target Makkah. Before that, a ballistic missile was fired at Makkah in July 2017.

Last night, sirens went off in the cities of Jazan, Abha and Khamis Mushit in Saudi Arabia, but the warning was withdrawn after some time.
