Karachi Police Chief Azad Khan has said that the police have recorded the statements of 78 people in the Mir Raza case, but no clue has been found regarding the murder.
In the meeting of the Senate Standing Committee on Human Rights, Karachi Police Chief Azad Khan briefed the committee on the murder of Mir Raza, a young businessman from Karachi.
The Karachi Police Chief has said that Mir Raza died on July 28, while his father filed a report of the incident on July 29. According to preliminary information, blood, a flower pot and an envelope full of blood were found at the scene, while the police also recovered a 30-bore pistol bullet shell.
According to Azad Khan, the first investigation team of the Mir Raza case was formed on August 1, while the second investigation team was formed on August 9.
During the meeting, Senator Qaratul-Ain Marri asked if it is true that Mir Raza had transferred all the money from his bank account to his parents before his death. Did they also shut down all their social media accounts themselves? And did Mir Raza, who usually travels in his car, order a car online on the day of the murder?
Karachi Police Chief has confirmed that all these things are true, Mir Raza had also taken a gun from home that day.
In the committee, questions were also raised regarding the medico-legal doctor’s statement on the media.
Qarat-ul-Ain Marri asked whether Dr. Samia had released his statement to the media before giving his statement to the police. The Police Chief has confirmed that Dr. Samia had given a statement on TV.
Azad Khan has said that the July 29 post-mortem report mentions that the bullet hit from the front, while the August 8 exhumation report says that the bullet hit from the back and exited from the chest.
The chairperson of the committee has said that it is hoped that no one is being protected in this case, she also mentioned reports on social media of alleged severe torture of Mir Raza.
The police chief has said that some marks of hydrochloric acid were found on Mir Raza’s shirt, while there were also marks of violence on his face.
According to Azad Khan, Mir Raza left Bahadurabad at 3:42 PM on July 28 with a security guard’s pistol, he reached home at 3:52 PM and booked a ride online from home at 3:57 PM.
The police chief has said that Mir Raza had left his car key, watch, car and wallet at home, he left the house in a white car at 4:09 PM and reached Manzoor Street Gulistan Johar at 4:28 PM and paid the driver. Mir Raza was seen going to the nursery at 4:38 PM.
Azad Khan has said that Mir Raza’s parents are calling the incident a murder, that’s why the police is also investigating the aspect of murder.
According to the Karachi Police Chief, Mir Raza suffered a loss of 4.5 million rupees in July, while pistol marks were also found on both his hands.
It was decided in the meeting that the Senate Standing Committee on Human Rights will hold a meeting on September 24 in Karachi.
The committee also directed the Mir Raza case investigation team to appear and give a briefing in the September 24 meeting.
