The United States has announced that it will maintain the ban on the purchase of luxury goods by the officials of the Iranian United Nations Mission in New York and others accompanying them.
US State Department spokesman Tommy Pigot wrote in his post on the social media platform ‘X’ that the US will not allow Iranian officials to purchase luxury items during their stay in New York to attend the UN General Assembly.
He also warned retailers in the New York area to be aware of these restrictions and not to assist the Iranian delegation in making prohibited purchases.
According to the report, the US administration has approved the granting of visas to Iranian President Masoud al-Madiqian, Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi and other important officials to attend the high-level meeting of the United Nations General Assembly next week, however travel and shopping restrictions have been imposed on the Iranian delegation.
This American move has come at a time when Iran’s top officials are about to arrive in New York to attend the United Nations General Assembly.
