Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor and Malayalam star Prithviraj Sukumaran’s new film Daera failed to impress the moviegoers on the first day of its release.

Directed by Meghna Gulzar, the film has started its cinematic journey with a slow start at the box office.

The film revolves around two police officers who find themselves in a moral dilemma after a controversial police encounter involving a harrowing rape and murder case. This crime thriller has collected around Rs 85 lakh in India on its first day so far.

The film has been released in two languages, Hindi and Malayalam. The Hindi version of the film is the highest grosser, with Rs 82 lakh of the total Indian gross of Rs 85 lakh coming from the Hindi version. Whereas the Malayalam version grossed a mere Rs 3 lakh.

Kareena Kapoor Khan’s lowest first-day grosser in recent years was Hansal Mehta’s 2024 film The Buckingham Murders, which collected Rs 1.15 crore on its first day in India.
