An Italian fighter jet has been seriously damaged during the Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia’s Taif Air Base.

Italian Defense Minister Guido Cruzito has confirmed that the Houthi attack damaged the fighter jet, but no military personnel were reported injured, nor were there any serious damage to other assets accompanying the plane or local infrastructure.

According to the Ministry of Defence, the plane was located in a remote part of the air base and separated from the main installation at the time of the attack.

Despite the severe effects of the explosion, the personnel deployed there for regional defense operations remained safe due to safety protocols.

Defense authorities have launched an operational review immediately after the incident to assess the situation and maintain security measures for military personnel.

The attack is part of a fresh wave of drone and missile attacks by Yemen’s Houthi militia, targeting military installations and infrastructure across Saudi Arabia.
