Doctors at a private hospital in southern India were shocked when they removed 20 unusual objects from a woman’s stomach, including 14 pens, 5 wooden spoons and 1 candle.
According to Indian media reports, this medical incident took place on September 5 at the Mata Shri Private Hospital in Narsarapet, Palnadu District, Andhra Pradesh.
According to reports, the family of the woman from Patalori Wari Palam village brought her to the hospital complaining of chest pain and severe restlessness.
Upon the patient’s arrival at the hospital, doctors conducted diagnostic tests, which revealed the presence of various objects in her stomach.
Later, a team of surgeons headed by Dr. P. Ramachandra Reddy performed a laparoscopic procedure to remove these objects. During this operation, which lasted for about 1 hour, the team of doctors carefully removed all the objects from the stomach.
The longest pen removed from the woman’s stomach was about 25 cm, while 1 pen lid was missing, suggesting the possibility of internal injury.
Dr. P Ramachandra Reddy has said that it is still unclear how the woman managed to swallow such a large number of different objects, but the woman is now recovering and her condition is stable.
The woman’s father said that the patient was facing mental health problems for the last 10 years, while her husband had divorced her 2 months ago.
