Lahore (Asif Mehmood Butt) Islamabad March, Punjab government banned the use of government machinery. Action will be taken against government employees forced or pressured to participate in political gatherings, helpline set up for complaints. All departments have been ordered to submit a comprehensive compliance report by September 23, immediate departmental and disciplinary action will be taken in case of violation. The Punjab government banned the use of provincial government funds, resources, vehicles, machinery and personnel for any march, procession or rally going to Islamabad and directed all administrative departments, police, divisional commissioners and deputy commissioners to ensure immediate and complete implementation of the order of the Islamabad High Court. In this regard, the Implementation and Coordination (I&C) Wing of the Services and General Administration Department (S&GAD) of the Punjab Government issued a letter on Saturday, September 19, which has been sent to all Administrative Secretaries, Inspector General Police Punjab, all Divisional Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners. No. 4421/2026) has been directed to ensure “immediate and complete compliance” of the court order. The Punjab government has made it clear that no funds, government resources or officials of the provincial government will be used for any march, procession or rally going towards Islamabad. No government employee or officer can be directly or indirectly assigned to participate in such programs or to facilitate them. According to the post, it will also be completely prohibited to use any official vehicle, machinery or equipment of the Punjab government to facilitate the people participating in such march or procession. The concerned departments and field officers have been instructed to ensure necessary administrative measures in this regard. The government has also issued clear orders regarding government employees and said that no employee or officer under the administration of the Punjab government will be forced, seduced or pressured to participate in any rally or procession. All administrative departments have been directed to immediately convey these orders in writing to their subordinate offices, attached departments, autonomous bodies and field formations to ensure uniform implementation of the court order at all relevant levels of the province. The letter also mentions the procedure for filing complaints against government employees in case of alleged political pressure. If a government servant or officer is forced to participate in a rally or procession by a political leader or official, he can immediately contact the Provincial Intelligence Cell of Punjab. Helpline numbers 042-99210114 and 042-99214494 have been issued for this purpose. Immediate departmental and disciplinary action will be taken against the concerned competent authority.
