Republican strategist and former White House and national security official Mark Pfeiffer says both the US and Iran are still open to a deal.

Speaking to the Arab media, Mark Faifel said that in diplomacy, sometimes it is important what conditions are removed from the negotiating table.

They say that Iranian security chief Mohsin Rezaei has reiterated his demands for talks with the US to end the naval blockade, release frozen Iranian assets and stop attacks, but did not mention the demands for war damages and money for reconstruction.

According to Mark Pfeiffer, this is a clear sign that, despite the harsh rhetoric, the ongoing pressure on Iran by the United States is having some effect.

He has said that this situation shows that both sides are looking for room for negotiations in the coming weeks.
