Jamaat-e-Islami has announced to postpone the long march till the first week of October.

Talking to the media in Multan, Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman said that Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif requested us to postpone the march, the Prime Minister invited us to meet him, he will definitely meet him, he will talk to him when he comes to Pakistan, he will take a written assurance from the government.

He said that the Prime Minister has said that he will return home and give relief to the people together with Jamaat-e-Islami. Today, after a long consultation, it has been decided that we will not give up the protest, we will not give up the long march either.

Hafiz Naeemur Rahman says that if the situation is bad then the government is responsible for it, sit-ins will continue, we will talk to the Prime Minister when he comes home, if he gives relief then fine, otherwise we will take a long march in October.

Amir Jamaat-e-Islami has said that the people are burning in the fire of inflation, due to our shutter down strike, the government has been under pressure, give various suggestions to the government to reduce the prices of petrol, the government has said that they cannot reduce the levy as they are in the IMF program.

They say that we had 3-4 rounds of meetings with ministers before our march, the relief given by the government is insufficient, you can’t end the levy on petrol, how can we end our protest? Not our personal agenda, the price of petrol is increasing, the price of everything is increasing.

Hafiz Naeemur Rehman has said that people are committing suicide in Karachi, including children, people are being charged 6 times levy, the government says that we are under pressure from the IMF, we will negotiate with the Prime Minister, we are talking about the relief of the people, whatever happens we will continue our movement, sit-ins will continue, when Jamaat-e-Islami takes a decision, it fulfills it, we will stay in Multan.
