Popular Bollywood actress Rani Mukherjee’s mother and playback singer Krishna Mukherjee passed away at the age of 75.

According to Indian media reports, a statement was issued by the actress’s family confirming the sad news.

The statement also revealed that Krishna Mukherjee died this afternoon.

“It is with a very heavy heart that we share the news that Rani Mukherjee’s mother, Mrs. Krishna Mukherjee, aged 75, passed away this afternoon,” the message said.

The family is deeply grateful for your love, prayers and support and respectfully requests privacy during this time of great grief, the message said.

The statement released by the family did not share details regarding the last rites of the actress’ mother.

It should be noted that Krishna Mukherjee was a playback singer, she gained fame with the song ‘Eid Ke Din Gule Mil Le Raja’ from the 1982 film Third Eye.
