At the United Nations, 80 countries demanded the immediate reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.

According to the report of The News International, Bahrain’s Foreign Minister Abdul Latif Bin Rashid Al Zayani, while reading a joint statement at the United Nations, said that Iran’s actions in the Strait of Hormuz are a constant threat to global security, maritime rights and freedoms.

The joint statement also strongly condemned the Houthis’ resumption of fighting in Yemen, continuous attacks on Saudi Arabia and attacks in the Red Sea.

According to the report, supporters of the statement include Gulf Arab countries and major Western powers.

The statement said that the advance of the Houthis towards the Bab al-Mandab strait will pose further threats to global maritime trade, maritime security and international shipping.

According to the report, Iran and Houthis are declaring their actions as defense.
