US President Donald Trump hosted a lavish state dinner at the White House in honor of Chinese President Xi Jinping, which was also attended by prominent figures from the world of technology.
The dinner was attended by several American technology leaders, including Tesla CEO Elon Musk, Apple CEO Tim Cook, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman.
According to foreign media, by inviting prominent technology figures to the dinner, it was clear that the US has tried to keep trade and artificial intelligence among the main topics of Xi Jinping’s visit.
According to reports, Trump and Xi Jinping began the day with a state reception, a military parade and an air show.
US President Trump termed the meeting as a big development and said that both countries have different systems, but the relations between the people of both nations are maintained.
Xi Jinping took a more cautious stance, saying that China and the US must co-exist peacefully and act as responsible major powers.
He also emphasized on keeping artificial intelligence under human control.
The Chinese president called on the US president to exercise caution in opposing Taiwan’s independence, while urging an early end to the Iran war through negotiations.
Protesters outside the White House chanted slogans against the Chinese president and demanded Hong Kong independence during Xi Jinping’s visit.
At the dinner, the US President presented Xi Jinping with a special statue of the US national symbol eagle, during which the guests were served various special dishes.
After dinner, Trump also gave guests a tour of the new $400 million ballroom under construction at the White House.
According to international media reports, the meeting between the two leaders did not yield any major progress, however, it has been agreed to extend the trade truce between the US and China for another 2 months, which will last until January.
Xi Jinping’s visit will conclude today with a visit to the US National Archives, which houses the historic document of the US Declaration of Independence.
