Iran and Oman have held talks to ensure safe maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz and to de-escalate tensions in the region.

According to the Arab media report, the meeting between Oman’s Foreign Minister Badr Al-Busaidi and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi took place on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

According to the Omani Ministry of Foreign Affairs, regional situation, diplomatic efforts to reduce tensions, restoration of mutual trust and unresolved issues were also discussed in the talks.

The two foreign ministers also discussed ensuring free movement in the Strait of Hormuz so that global trade and energy delivery can continue unhindered.
