Two Israeli soldiers were killed in an accidental drone explosion in northern Gaza, the Israeli army has suspended all flights of small drones pending investigation into the technical glitches in the drone operation.

According to the Israeli military, the incident happened on Thursday, when soldiers were operating a mini-explosive drone in the Gaza Strip. The drone fell and exploded for unknown reasons, killing two soldiers.

The two soldiers killed, belonging to the 7007th Battalion of the Jerusalem Brigade, one aged 24 and the other 23, were operating First Person View (FPV) drones called ‘Atalif’. The first drone successfully completed its mission, but the second drone crashed inside a military outpost while in flight.

According to initial investigation, minutes later the two soldiers approached the downed drone, picked it up and it suddenly exploded, injuring both seriously and later being confirmed dead at the hospital.
