8 Indonesian airports closed due to volcanic ash

In Indonesia, 8 airports including 2 airports in the capital Jakarta have been closed.

The decision to close airports in Indonesia was made this morning due to the spread of volcanic ash.

Anak ‌Kra-ka-tau, a volcano located between the islands of Java and Sumatra, erupted on Friday night, spreading ash over Jakarta and surrounding areas.

Due to this, flights have been suspended as a precautionary measure and 170,000 passengers have been affected.

The agency that monitors the volcano has warned that more explosions are likely in the coming days.
