The 2 suspects who stole the Museum of Applied Arts (MAK) in Vienna, the capital of Austria, bought entrance tickets to the museum before the incident.

According to Austrian media, police say the thieves broke a glass display case, took out a 200-carat platinum and diamond necklace and fled.

According to Austrian media, the Van Cleef & Arpels necklace on display at the museum was decorated with 673 precious stones worth several million dollars, while about 500 items were on display.

According to media reports, the recent theft is one of the high-profile thefts at European museums.

Police said during Thursday’s incident, the two men entered the museum without masks and bought tickets for entry, which was caught on CCTV cameras.

According to the police, the two men broke the glass display case with the help of a hammer and fled in an unknown direction with the jewellery.

The management of the museum has confirmed the theft and said that they cannot comment further on the matter due to the investigation.

This exhibition dedicated to French designers Van Cleef & Arpels started in June this year and will end in September.
