Astronauts aboard the International Space Station have captured a view of the northern lights (aurora borealis), a natural light display (aurora) produced in Earth’s upper hemisphere. Caught on camera that is rarely seen.
This video taken from the space station clearly shows dancing waves and lights of bright green and pale purple just above Earth.
The adorable video quickly went viral as soon as it was posted on social media, with users calling it ‘nature’s most magnificent masterpiece’ and ‘amazing natural scene’.
These natural glows are created when charged particles from the Sun collide with the Earth’s magnetic field and gases (oxygen and nitrogen) in the atmosphere, creating the beautiful green and red atmosphere.
