Former BCCI chief selector and former Indian cricketer Krishnamachari Srikanth has criticized Gautam Gambhir and the Indian team management for dropping Vibhu Suryavanshi from the playing XI in the first T20 match against Afghanistan.

Krishnamachari Srikanth expressed his opinion on the decision to leave Vibhu Suryavanshi out of the playing XI on his YouTube channel and said that my wife was also surprised to see Suryavanshi out of the team and raised the question why the player who performed best in the last match was not fed in the next match.

He said that the team management should treat Suriyavanshi appropriately, the young player should be given continuous opportunities as being dropped in and out of the team repeatedly can damage his confidence.

Krishnamachari Srikanth also lamented the team management’s attitude towards Sanju Samson.

He says that Sanju Samson is also sometimes included in the team and sometimes left out, this is not a correct strategy.

Krishnamachari Srikanth said that the team management should decide whether they want to give Samson continuous opportunities or Suriyavanshi for a few matches as it is not appropriate to give both players only 1 or 2 matches at a time.

It should be noted that Vibhu Suryavanshi won the ‘Player of the Series’ award in India’s last T20 series against Zimbabwe, but in the first T20 match against Afghanistan, the Indian team management replaced him with Sanju Samson, who has been in and out of the team in recent times despite being the player of the tournament in T20 World Cup 2026.

Sanju Samson could not capitalize on this opportunity and was dismissed for just 10 runs.

Now in the second T20 match against Afghanistan, all eyes are on the decision whether the Indian team management gives Surya Vanshi a chance again or keeps faith in Sanju Samson.
