Jamaat-e-Islami delegation met with Federal Ministers Ali Pervez Malik, Azam Nazir Tarar and Bilal Azhar Kayani. The Jamaat-e-Islami delegation was led by Liaquat Baloch.

In this regard, according to the announcement issued from Islamabad, the delegation of Jamaat-e-Islami was briefed on petroleum sector and fuel supply.

According to the statement, Petroleum Minister Ali Pervez Malik said that the government ensured uninterrupted supply of fuel during the recent crisis.

According to the official statement, Jamaat-e-Islami welcomed the government’s fuel relief measures. Liaquat Baloch emphasized on permanent solution of basic problems including reduction in petroleum levy.

According to the declaration, the delegation was briefed on the petroleum price system based on the 7-day rolling average. Federal Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik said that the government is taking comprehensive measures for the protection of consumers and the availability of fuel.

He further said that targeted subsidy is being given for motorcycles, rickshaws and small vehicles.

The Petroleum Minister said that targeted subsidy is an effective means of providing relief to the deserving sections, upgrading of refineries will increase the production of Euro-5 fuel, petrol and diesel.

Ali Pervez Malik said that refinery upgradation will reduce the dependence on imported refined petroleum products.

Federal Minister Bilal Azhar Kayani said that the government is taking steps to increase the tax base and promote direct taxes.

According to the declaration, the ministers also assured to convey the recommendations of Jamaat-e-Islami to the Prime Minister.
