According to details, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has so far received only 181 simple returns under the “easy tax scheme” introduced for retailers (small shopkeepers), which has collected one crore eighty lakh (18 million) rupees in the national exchequer. There are about 35 lakh (3.5 million) retailers across the country, and the government introduced this simplified tax scheme to bring them into the tax net. However, Minister of State for Finance Bilal Azhar Kayani on Tuesday stated that 5,000 retailers (vendors) registered with the “Aasan Tax Scheme App” are in the process of filing their simple tax returns. The Minister also issued (launched) the first 50 number plates at the shops of the shopkeepers who benefited from this scheme and belonged to different cities (big and small towns) of the country.
