U.S. officials and representatives of Yemen’s Houthis held a secret meeting in Amman late last week.

According to Reuters, five sources with knowledge of the meeting confirmed it, according to the sources, the meeting took place at the US Embassy in Muscat, while the Omani government helped organize the meeting.

According to a source, the meeting took place on Sunday, with Houthi representatives assuring US officials that they have no intention of attacking US ships and that they are committed to a 2025 ceasefire with the US.

According to a Yemeni source, the Houthis assured not to attack Israeli ships or commercial ships, but exempted ships belonging to Saudi Arabia.

According to sources, the Houthi delegation included Muscat-based senior leader Muhammad Abdul Salam and another important leader Abdul Malik Al Ajiri.

The US State Department did not confirm the meeting, Oman’s embassy in the US and Houthi official Abdul Salam did not respond to requests for comment.
