ISLAMABAD (Rana Ghulam Qadir) The federal government has implemented a new system of payment of pension and digital proof of life giving great relief to pensioners. On the orders of the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Finance has issued a notification of the revised SOP. With this initiative, the old paper system has officially ended, now the federal pension will be deposited into designated bank accounts only through direct payment system, direct credit system. According to the Ministry of Finance, the new system aims to facilitate pensioners, simplify the verification system and reduce dependence on private banks, which will increase efficiency and transparency. The role of private banks in matric verification and proof of life certificate has been done away with, now the role of private banks will be limited to disbursing pension and they will act only as authentication center of NADRA, banks will not be allowed to deactivate pension account just because of pension.
