Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has said that as long as the presence of the polio virus continues to be detected, it is important to be vigilant, Pakistan is at a decisive stage in the journey towards the eradication of polio, stopping the transmission of the polio virus by the end of 2027 is an achievable goal.
Inaugurating the anti-polio campaign in Karachi, he said that unwavering commitment and high-quality vaccination campaigns are necessary to eradicate polio, the last stage is often the most difficult, every child who misses the vaccine creates an opportunity for the virus to spread.
Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah said that every vaccinated child takes us closer to a polio-free Sindh and Pakistan.
He said that in 30 districts of Sindh, a target of 10 million children has been set, full coverage will be provided in 23 districts and partial coverage in 7 districts.
According to Murad Ali Shah, more than 26,000 police personnel will be deployed throughout Sindh during the campaign, 2,300 women police constables will also be deployed for the security of the polio campaign.
Appreciating the services of health workers and police officers, he said that eradication of polio is a common national responsibility, parents, scholars, teachers, medical experts and civil society have to play their role in eradication of polio, polio vaccine is safe and effective and is necessary to protect children from life-long disabilities.
The Chief Minister of Sindh said that significant progress has been made against polio through joint efforts, we will secure a healthy future for Sindh and Pakistan by ensuring the protection of every child.
Murad Ali Shah also directed to give 5 to 10 minutes in the news bulletin on polio awareness and said that there is a misunderstanding about polio drops in some communities, where parents forbid it, attempts are made to convince them.
He said that polio workers are frontline workers, they will be fully taken care of, children go to different places, so negative environmental samples does not mean that there is no case of polio.
Regarding the increase in oil prices, Murad Ali Shah said that the mountain of inflation has broken, the People’s Party is fully aware of this inflation, and a resolution to reduce oil prices has also been approved in the Sindh Assembly.
