A student from the African country of Cameroon has invented a unique bag that cooks food without gas or electricity.

According to international media reports, a physics student from Cameroon has developed a thermal cooking bag that does not require gas, wood or electricity to cook continuously.

The report states that this special bag is made of thick insulation material which acts like a ‘slow cooker’.

According to the report, to cook food in this bag, initially the pot is heated for about 5 to 10 minutes on a gas or wood stove, when the food begins to boil, the pot along with the lid is removed from the stove and placed in an insulated bag.

The report further states that the bag retains the heat inside the pot, allowing the food to cook slowly without using more fuel. Foods that take longer to cook like rice, pulses and meat can be prepared this way.

According to the report, the soup in this bag can also be prepared in just 20 minutes, after boiling the soup for about 10 minutes, if the pot is placed in the bag, the retained heat continues to cook it further and the soup can be ready in about 20 minutes.

The report states that the use of this handmade cooking bag claims to reduce fuel consumption by up to 70%.

According to the report, the bag could also help reduce the use of wood and reduce people’s exposure to smoke from traditional stoves.

The report states that more than 2,000 such cooking bags have been sold in various markets in Cameroon, which shows the interest of the people in this simple but effective technology.
