The most popular messaging app WhatsApp has finally started opening its doors to third-party AI agents.

The Telegram-style feature allows users to use bots and AI agents to perform specific tasks within the app, WA Beta Info reports.

By going to WhatsApp settings, users can create up to 5 AI agents of their choice, which can be given a specific name, profile picture and API key.

After setup, these agents will work like a normal WhatsApp contact, allowing you to perform tasks like drafting, notes or personal assistant.

These agents will only be able to read the messages that the user himself shares with them. It cannot access your personal chats, contacts or media.

Unlike normal WhatsApp messages, chats with these AI agents will not be ‘end-to-end encrypted’, as they are processed by third-party developers’ servers.
