On the occasion of the United Nations General Assembly, the Vice President of the European Commission, Kaja Kalas, met Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.

Kaja Kalas has said in a social media statement that during the meeting, diplomatic efforts to end the US-Iran war and the possibility of fully reopening the Strait of Hormuz were discussed.

He has said that before the war there was no toll or fee for passing through the Strait of Hormuz and after the war it should not be the same, the sea traffic in the Strait of Hormuz and Bab al-Mandab should be free and unimpeded.

According to the vice-president of the European Commission, during the meeting, the issue of internal crackdown in Iran, especially the increase in executions and death penalty cases, was also raised.
