2026 has been an excellent year for sports documentaries so far, with a comeback Formula 1: Driving to survive And completely new docs like Rafa, Mourinho and many more untold new docs. Still scheduled to hit Netflix in 2026, it’s a four-part documentary series about legendary boxer Mike Tyson, going back to 1994 to explore Michael Schumacher’s stunning first world championship win.

Schumacher 94 – Birth of a Legend (2026)
Netflix release date: October 2
Michael Schumacher is one of the greatest Formula 1 drivers of all time. Schumacher, who won seven world championships between 1994 and 2004, is one of the most successful drivers to don Ferrari’s famous cherry red racing suit. But before Ferrari existed, the German drove a Benetton, and in his fourth season of racing, Schumacher won eight races, earning him his first world championship. This documentary covers that exciting first season, all the highs and lows, and his rivalry with British driver Damon Hill.

Legendary heavyweight boxer Mike Tyson returns to Netflix for a new four-part docuseries exploring his life and career, told from the perspective of the man himself.
Netflix has announced that its latest sports series will take an unflinching look at the life of legendary boxer and cultural icon Mike Tyson. Known as the youngest heavyweight champion in history (at the age of 20 in 1986), Tyson’s legacy extends far beyond the ropes of the boxing ring, establishing him as one of the most compelling and polarizing figures of our time. From his meteoric rise as “The Baddest Man on the Planet” to his personal struggles – including a prison stint and highly publicized struggles (i.e. finances, drug use, in-ring feuds) – and eventual redemption, this series will explore the man behind the gloves.

Season two of At home with the Furys He provided an insight into the lives of Tyson Fury and his family during his training camp for his return from retirement to fight Arslanbek Mahmudov. With the victory over Mahmudov, Fury now has his sights set on Anthony Joshua, and if the fight is confirmed, we expect to see plenty of behind-the-scenes footage of Fury’s training camp.

Netflix release date: First quarter 2027
Box to Box Films successfully developed the sports docuseries format, and it all started on Netflix with Drive to Survive. Netflix’s annual season of Drive to Survive presents the drama that unfolds over the previous F1 season, following drivers and race teams as they battle it out on the racetrack for world championships, podiums and points. As Lando Norris aims to retain the world championship, Mercedes’ young Italian driver, Kim Antonelli, stands in his way.

The gorgeous ladies of the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders will return for a fourth season in 2027, as we follow them behind the scenes and explore what it takes to become one of America’s Sweethearts.

One of the most controversial scandals in French football history: In 1993, Olympique Marseille beat Valenciennes 1-0. However, at the end of the first half, Valenciennes defender Jack Glassman informed his coach that he had been approached for a sum of money to “make things easier” for the players, so their match against Bayern Munich in that year’s Champions League final would be injury-free. This incident could have had serious consequences, not only for Marseille and Valenciennes, but also for the reputation of French football.
