Actor Mushtaq Khan’s old statement about being paid only Rs 1 lakh despite working extra days for his memorable role in the Bollywood film Welcome is making rounds on social media again after his death.

According to Indian media reports, the 56-year-old actor played the comic role of Balu in the 2007 comedy film.

He had complained at one point that I was not paid as promised by Feroze Nadiadwala, the producer of the film.

During an interview last year, Mushtaq Khan had detailed that I had to face unfair treatment from the makers of Welcome.

In an exclusive conversation, he had said that when we sign the contract, we are told that the shoot will be for 20 or 25 days, we fix our remuneration based on that, but after the completion of 25 days of shooting, I was asked to work for another 10 days, after that for another 15 days, but the remuneration was not increased, I did not find it fair.

Let me tell you the reason, the actor said, it was fixed for us that we would be paid Rs 1 lakh for completing the film, whether the shooting lasted for 20 days or 25 days but the film crew worked on a daily wage basis, just imagine how much money we could have earned if we were also paid on a daily basis?

Despite being paid less, Mushtaq Khan reprized the role of Balu in the 2015 sequel Welcome Back to Anees Bazmee’s film series.

It should be noted that famous actor Mushtaq Khan passed away yesterday at the age of 56 after a long battle with lung cancer.
