A new feature of WhatsApp is ready for young children

New features are being introduced in the instant messaging application WhatsApp. It recently rolled out a new feature for users under the age of 13, after which they will be able to use the platform with their parents’ permission.

According to WhatsApp, this change was made in recognition of younger users being an important part of the platform’s family. However, the feature has been introduced at a time when there are growing concerns about the dangers young people face from phones and social media apps.

WhatsApp says the “parent-managed” accounts were created as a result of feedback from parents who asked the company about letting their young children run the app. Parents will have to create and manage accounts on the app and children’s accounts will be linked to adult accounts.
