Despite American opposition, Iran managed to become a member of the General Committee of the International Atomic Energy Agency.

According to the Iranian mission, the membership of the General Committee of the IAEA General Conference was voted on in which the members of the agency voted in favor of Iran.

The spokesman of Iran’s Atomic Energy Agency, Behrouz Kamal Vandi, said that the US had tried everything possible to prevent this from happening, but these efforts were unsuccessful.

Earlier, Iran criticized Austria and the US for denying its nuclear chief Mohammad Eslami a visa to attend the IAEA conference.

Ismail Baqaei, the spokesman of the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, alleged that the United States had put pressure on Austria in this regard.
