Electricity has become expensive across the country, an additional burden of 33 billion rupees will be transferred to consumers


Electricity has been made expensive for consumers across the country.

The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has increased the cost of electricity in monthly and quarterly adjustments for the entire country.

The monthly adjustment increase will be applied in September bills, the July fuel price adjustment will pass on an additional burden of Rs 33 billion to consumers.

The decision to increase the quarterly adjustment by 52 paise per unit has been issued, the quarterly adjustment will be applicable from September to November 2026. The quarterly adjustment will be applicable to the customers as well.

Nepra has sent the decision of quarterly adjustment for April to June 2026 to the federal government, the quarterly adjustment will impose an additional burden of Rs 12 billion 67 crore on the consumers.
