The budget of 218 billion 845 million rupees for the financial year 2026-27 was presented in the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly.

Finance Minister Muhammad Ali Akhtar proposed to allocate 25 billion rupees for wheat subsidy, 88 billion rupees for federal grant-in-aid and 53 billion 30 million rupees for Gilgit-Baltistan stabilization package.

In the budget, 43 billion 97 crore 33 lakh rupees have been earmarked for development expenditure and 149 billion 87 crore 17 lakh rupees for non-development expenditure.

It is proposed to allocate 22 billion rupees for purchase of wheat, 1 billion 48 crore rupees for education and 50 crore rupees for local elections.

A 7% increase in the salaries of government employees and a 50% increase in the conveyance allowance was also proposed. Speaker Imran Nadeem adjourned the assembly session till September 18.
