Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman has said that if the government reduces the price of petrol, then it is fine, otherwise we have a much further plan.
Hafiz Naeemur Rahman said that the government is holding talks after 2 days in Geo News program Capital Talk.
He said that Jamaat-e-Islami has given sit-ins against the increase in petrol price and levy, if the levy and some taxes are removed, the price of petrol can be reduced by 106 rupees.
Amir Jamaat-e-Islami added that the international prices are in place but the levy has been imposed by the government to hide its failure, the petroleum levy of 1567 billion rupees has been collected by the government in one year.
He said that the levy could have been reduced by increasing the price of petrol by 12 rupees last night.
Hafiz Naeemur Rehman also said that those who are apparently against the government and criticize our sit-in are not correct, we want the opposition to participate in our protest.
He said that the levy has nothing to do with the price of petrol, our demand is to abolish it, our protest is only for the people’s problem, not for personal or political gain.
Amir Jamaat-e-Islami said that if they agree to our demands, then it is fine, if they do not agree, we will use all options, the government team said that they are stuck in the IMF program and cannot end the levy.
He said that the government team said that the IMF forces to meet the targets, has given some suggestions, which can lead to the abolition of the levy, reducing the policy rate by 3% will have an impact of more than 1600 billion rupees.
Hafiz Naeemur Rehman said that on the day the sit-in was started, Mian Iftikhar of ANP had participated in our sit-in, Barrister Gauhar also supported Jamaat-e-Islami in this protest.
He said that Sohail Afridi addressed our sit-in in Hyderabad during his visit to Sindh, he will request all political parties to support it as it is a public issue.
He said that Jamaat-e-Islami is in favor of forming administrative units, it is in our manifesto, the condition for forming administrative units is that they are in accordance with the constitution and public trust.
Amir Jamaat-e-Islami further said that there should be consultation at a large level to create administrative units, there is sensitivity on this issue in Sindh, so why was this issue started without a national dialogue?
