After the formation of BJP government in West Bengal, new manifestations of Hindutva started to emerge.

Now, a group of student organization of Sangh Parivar in Kolkata forced the Vice Principal and Teacher-in-Charge of Surendranath College Mohammadi Tarnam to sign her resignation.

According to the Indian newspaper, Mohammadi Tarnam was surrounded by the students affiliated with ABVP and kept him locked in his room for 23 hours.

After Muhammadi Tarnam left, the group of students entered his room, lit incense sticks and sprinkled ganga fire and said they were ‘purifying’ the room.

Mohammadi Tarnam sent an e-mail to the higher authorities as soon as the students left the fence to pressure them to take the signatures.

The main reason for the conflict between the students and the teacher was the non-attendance of the students. 65% attendance is required for law students to sit for the exams, most of the students were not fulfilling this requirement.

The Higher Education Authority is yet to clarify whether Tarnam’s resignation letter has been accepted or not.
