A 17-year-old girl was gang-raped by 3 people who pretended to be police officers in the Indian capital, Delhi.

According to Indian media, the incident took place in a park near a temple where the suspects threatened the girl and her 17-year-old friend, 1 suspect sexually assaulted the girl with a gun and a knife, later the other 2 suspects also raped the victim.

On receiving the information, the police identified the accused with the help of CCTV.

According to Indian media, during the arrest attempt by the police, an accused allegedly fired 3 shots at the police. In response, the accused was injured and arrested.

According to the police, the arrested suspect is not a police officer but is associated with the labor sector. The search for the other 2 suspects is ongoing.

According to Indian media, a case has been registered against the accused under the relevant provisions including the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act.

According to Indian media, this is the fourth incident of rape of young girls in the capital Delhi in the last 10 days.
