Senior Indian actress Methu Mukherjee passed away at the age of 71. She was undergoing treatment in a private hospital in Mumbai. She mostly acted in Bengali films and was battling cancer for the past one year.

The All India Cinema Workers Association paid tribute to him saying that his services and legacy will be remembered in the film world. While his co-star Prasinjit Chatterjee also expressed his grief over his death on social media.

Let it be clear that Methu Mukherjee made his mark in the film industry in the 1970s and 1980s. She was a well-known name in Bengali cinema. He worked with Bengali actors of his era, Uttam Kumar, Sumitra Chattopadahiye and Ranjit Malik.

His famous films include Marjina Abdullah, Nishi Kanya, Muchak and others. Apart from this, he has also appeared in Hindi films Khan Dost, Safid Jhoot, Dil Lagi and Two Boys Katke.
