The Iranian judiciary has confirmed that hardline religious leader Mohammad Baqer Kharazi is in custody.

According to Iranian media reports, Ali Kazemi, the spokesperson of the Iranian Judiciary, has said that Mohammad Baqir Kharazi has been detained under a court order and his case is in the preliminary investigation stage in the Special Court of Spirituality.

He said that no charges have been filed against him yet and no final verdict has been pronounced.
