A hearing was held in the Islamabad High Court on the petition against PTI’s September 27 protest. A three-member larger bench headed by Chief Justice Sarfraz Dogar conducted the hearing.

Attorney General Mansoor Awan argued that Islamabad police is less in number, maybe the capacity to fight the provocative group is not so high.

He said that fundamental rights are not denied, but the rights of other citizens should not be affected by exercising the right of one citizen, provincial governments should not be allowed to use government machinery for political purposes.

On this, Advocate General Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Shah Faisal objected to the admissibility of the petition and said that the long march of September 27 is in favor of democracy and the judiciary, why is it being considered as an attack on Islamabad, we want to strengthen the courts with the long march.

The Chief Justice remarked that the decisions of the High Courts have been violated before, the Islamabad High Court has constitutional protection to protect the rights of the citizens.

The Chief Justice addressed the Advocate General KP and remarked that do you think the courts need such demonstrations? Courts are not so weak.

The court adjourned the hearing till today giving time to Advocate General Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to prepare arguments and summoned IGs, secretaries and other officers of all provinces in personal capacity.
