England’s star batsman Joe Root surpassed Sachin Tendulkar to reach another milestone.

In the first ODI against Sri Lanka in Durham, Joe Root completed 23,000 international runs, becoming the first Englishman and the eighth batsman in the world to achieve the feat.

The English batsman crossed the milestone of 23,000 runs in his 521st international innings, after which he is now third in the list of cricketers who have achieved this honour.

Earlier, Sachin Tendulkar accomplished this feat in his 522nd innings, while Virat Kohli completed 23,000 runs in 490 innings.

Other batsmen who have scored 23,000 international runs include Rahul Dravid, Sri Lanka’s Kumar Sangakkara and Mahila Jayawardene, Australia’s Ricky Ponting and South Africa’s Jack Kells.

It should be noted that Joe Root has surpassed Sachin Tendulkar in many records before.

Recently, he also broke Sachin Tendulkar’s record for most half-centuries in Test cricket.

Sachin Tendulkar has scored 15921 runs in Test cricket while Joe Root has scored 14278 runs so far, meaning he needs 1643 more runs to break this record of the Indian legend.
