England captain and star batsman Joe Root broke the record of India’s legendary batsman Sachin Tendulkar.

In the fourth innings of the third Test against Pakistan, Joe Root scored 62 runs and broke Tendulkar’s record for most half-centuries in long-term cricket.

It was Root’s 69th half-century in Test cricket, surpassing Tendulkar’s 68 half-centuries.

The captain of the English team has become the first in the list of most half-centuries in Test cricket.

Joe Root achieved this feat in 309 innings, Tendulkar scored 68 half-centuries in 329 innings while West Indies’ Shivnarine Chandrapal is third with 66 half-centuries.

In this list, former Australian captain Alan Border and India’s Rahul Dravid are fourth with 63 and 63 half-centuries, while Ricky Ponting is at the fifth position with 62 half-centuries.

Tendulkar still holds the record for most centuries in Test cricket with 51 centuries while Joe Root is now 10 centuries away from him.

Second in this list is South Africa’s Jack Kells who has scored 45 centuries while Jurort and Ricky Ponting are in third place who have scored 41 and 41 centuries together.

Along with Joe Root, Tendulkar has come forward in the race to break another big record, the Indian legendary batsman has scored 15 thousand 921 runs in Test cricket while 35-year-old Jurot is second with 14 thousand 278 runs.
