Kunin Shah, the named accused in the case of torture on Professor Arif Saqi of University of Karachi, was arrested in Karachi.

Police officials say that the accused was feared to have escaped outside the city.

The chairperson of Sindh Interior Standing Committee Faryal Talpar had expressed his indignation over the non-arrest of the accused.

It should be remembered that on September 8, Professor Arif Saqi, head of the Islamic Studies Department of Karachi University, was tortured by influential people.

The accused hit Professor Arif Saqi on the head with the butt of a pistol, fired in the air and forced him to sit in his restaurant.

Professor Arif Saqi had said that the security guards with the double cabin at Safora Chowrangi signaled it to stop, then quickly reversed and hit the double cabin with the online taxi.

He said that when the taxi driver demanded compensation, the person who came out of the double cabin tortured him, pushed him, dragged him to the restaurant and beat him there.
