The dispute over 2.7 acres of land in Chennai bought by the late Bollywood superstar Sridevi in ​​1988 reached the Supreme Court of India, where the Supreme Court directed all parties to settle the matter through arbitration.

A two-member bench of the Supreme Court of India said during the hearing that it will appoint a retired High Court judge as an arbitrator to resolve the matter so that both parties can settle their dispute.

It should be noted that after Sridevi’s death in 2018, her husband Boney Kapoor transferred this land to himself and his two daughters Jhanvi Kapoor and Khushi Kapoor.

After which three persons claiming to be the heirs of MC Chandrasekaran challenged this ownership and filed a case to cancel the sale deed of 1988.

Boney Kapoor’s lawyer Abhishek Manu Singhvi argued in court that filing such a claim almost 40 years after it was purchased is a gross abuse of law, as the previous owner of the land had not raised any objection at the time of sale.

The Supreme Court, while ordering arbitration in this case, fixed the next hearing for December 18.
