Bollywood actor Manoj Bajpayee has approached the Delhi High Court against the alleged unauthorized use of his image, voice and identity.

Manoj Bajpayee has requested protection of his personal rights in the petition.

The petition has raised concerns over the alleged commercial use of the actor’s images and the imitation of voice by artificial intelligence.

H2PG Designs Pvt Ltd, a named party in the petition, has been accused of using photographs of Manoj Bajpayee in a manner that gave the impression that the actor was wearing the brand’s clothing.

Another party is allegedly accused of duplicating the actor’s voice using artificial intelligence technology.

Manoj Bajpayee has also sought protection from the use of artificial intelligence-based chatbots that may use features linked to his identity.

During the hearing, the court has raised the question why the case was filed in Delhi? Because the actors are mainly based in Mumbai.

His counsel argued that some of the parties are domiciled in Delhi, hence the court has jurisdiction to hear the case.

The court directed Manoj Bajpayee’s counsel to place on record the previous interim and final court decisions related to personal rights, including those of other high courts.

Manoj Bajpayee’s plea comes at a time of growing legal concerns over artificial intelligence copying the voices, images and identities of well-known personalities.
