The 2026 ranking of global sports cities has been released, New York has been named the world’s number one sports city.

Paris is second and Los Angeles third in the ranking of sports cities by the Swiss organization Burson.

In the ranking of world sports cities, London is fourth and Madrid is fifth.

Paris moved to second place in the 2026 ranking after being number one for 3 years in a row, while New York moved up from third place in the previous ranking to take the first position.

Major reasons for New York’s improvement in ranking include the NBA championship and the FIFA World Cup final.

Burson’s ranking includes 100 cities with the strongest ties to sports in the world, with no city in Pakistan included in the list.

In the list, Barcelona is 6th, Milan 7th, Lausanne 8th, Manchester 10th, Washington 11th, Miami 12th, Tokyo 16th, Sydney 24th and Dubai 29th.

In the sports cities ranking, Mumbai is at 51st, New Delhi at 65th, Riyadh at 68th, Cape Town at 85th, Jeddah at 98th and Sapporo at 99th.

The Sports Cities Ranking incorporates the opinions of experts, sports media and global sports leaders, the rankings also include analysis of social media and media coverage.
